Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing health promoting behaviors(HPB) of the family with chronic mental disorders.
Methods Data were collected by questionnaires from 365 family with the patients of chronic mental illness in outpatient clinic of the General Hospital and Government Psychiatric Hospital in Seoul. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression.
Results The score of HPB showed significantly positive correlation with the score of level of FH (r=.46, p=.00), FC (r=,47, p=.00), self efficacy(SE) (r=.37, p=.00), and FR(r=.46, p=,00). The most powerful predictor of HPB was FC (23%). A combination of FC, SE, and FH account for 32 % of the variance in HPB of the family with chronic mental illness.
Conclusion This study suggest that FH, FC, SE, and FR are significantly influencing factors on the HPB of the family with the patients of chronic mental illness. |
