Abstract |
Purpose This study is to Survey the distribution of Children with Alcoholics and nonacoholics* family in the 1st grade Students of middle-School. and to identify the difference of their mental health.
Methods This Survey was conducted through questioning with self-reporting questionaire by assistance of the Jinju Health Center from Feb. 1st to 28th in 2002 and analyzed by X 2 -test, t-test, ANOVA, using the SPSS/WIN 10. The Subjects were 1835 Students, who were selected conviniently from 12 middle schools considered their sex and district of schools.
Results The percentage of the Children of Alcoholics was 10.4% (68.8% father alcoholics, 7.8% mother, 7.3% others of them) 1) There were significant differences in economic status and parent status between Alcoholics and nonalcoholics Children. 2) The Score of mental health of subjects was higher than that of other adolescents(score 1.60) 3) The Score of mental health of alcoholics students was higher than that of nonalcoholics*(t=5.65, p=.00), especially interpersonal sensitivity(F=6.32, p=.00), hostility (F=6.19, p=.00) were the highest score among the subfactor of the mental health.
Conclusion The children of the Alcoholics were psychologically vulnerable and suffering from various emotional conflicts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the program of promotion of mental health for the 1st grade of the middle-school-students with the alcoholic parent or family. |
