Abstract |
Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among stress appraisal, coping, self efficacy, social support, and fatigue regulation behaviors of the patient with chronic fatigue.
Methods Data were collected by questionnaires from 252 patients with chronic fatigue in General Hospital and Community in Seoul. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression.
Results The score of fatigue regulation behaviors showed significantly positive correlation with the score of stress appraisal-threat(r=.34, p=.00), challenge (r=.33, p=.00), coping behavior(r=.46, p=.00), self efficacy(r=.16, p=.00), social support (r=.17, p=.00). The most powerful predictor of fatigue regulation behaviors was coping behavior and the variance explained was 17%. A combination of coping behavior, stress appraisal-challenge, social support, and self efficacy account for 35% of the variance in fatigue regulation behaviors of the patients with chronic fatigue.
Conclusion This study suggest that coping behavior, stress appraisal, social support, and self efficacy are significantly influencing factors on fatigue regulation behaviors of the patients with chronic fatigue. |
