Abstract |
Purpose This present study was conducted to investigate the school related stress and mental health education need among the middle school students.
Methods The subjects were collected by convenient sampling comprised of 599 middle school students(two male middle school and one female middle school). The instrument of the study was modified School stress by Kim (2001) and mental health education need developed by the research team.
Results As for the school related stress, the female students showed higher than the male students. The stress related academic activity among the stress were highest for the all students. As for the mental health education needs, female students showed higher than the male students. The needs for the stress management were highest and self-management followed. As for the general characteristics related to the mental health education needs and school related stress, the needs were significantly different according to the sex, grade, and experience of mental health education and the school related stress were significantly different according to the sex and grade.
Finally, there were significant correlation between school related stress and mental health education needs.
Conclusion This study revealed there was the relationship with school related stress and mental health education needs among the middle students. This study also suggested the basic information and framework for planning, developing, and providing the school based mental health promotion education for the middle school students. |
