Abstract |
Purpose This study examined the effects of home care services on physical health, cognition, and depression in community-dwelling elderly with a chronic disease.
Methods This study adopted a pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. The 63 subjects were recaiited from a community in S city, Korea and received home care services 15 times for 12 months. Data was collected by using a physical health assessment, mini-mental state examination-Korean version (MMSE-K), and geriatric depression screening (GDSS).
Results The score of health status and cognition inaeased significantly in the experimental group compared to the pre-test.
Conclusion These findings indicate home care service may be advantageous for community-dwelling elderly wrth a chronic disease. |
